16724. McAdoo, Eva: HOW DO YOU LIKE NEW YORK? The Macmillan Company, New York 1939  Revised edition.  Seven day whirlwind tour of Manhattan by the author and her brother. Many of the landmarks they visit are still extant, and the others provide an excellent snapshot of the city just before WWII. Includes a fold-out map with detail of the transportation lines, the IRT, the BMT, the 8th Avenue lines, and the elevated.  Slight wear to extremities. Endpapers browned  $150.


2611. Sloan, John: JOHN SLOAN'S NEW YORK SCENE  1965, Harper & Row, New York.  Edited by Bruce St. John, with an introduction by Helen Farr Sloan, the author's second wife. The diaries of the noted illustrator from 1906 to 1913, creating a detailed snapshot of New York City one hundred years ago.  DJ a bit browned and with small open tears and some chipping.  $100.

14948. Saunders, Richard [aka Benjamin Franklin: POOR RICHARD: THE ALMANACKS  The Heritage Press, New York, 1964. 4vo. 300 pp.  INSCRIBED to front free endpaper by Norman Rockwell. Slipcased collection of each of the twenty-six issues of Poor Richard's Almanac as published by Benjamin Franklin, with illustrations in b&w by Norman Rockwell, with half a dozen full page evocative color plates also by Rockwell. A good opportunity to read Franklin's actual almanac contents, with sources and annotation, and the art makes it even more special!    VG+. Bookplate to front pastedown.  $500.

16398. Moorehead, Alan: THE NILE {Two Volume Set}  The Folio Society, London, 2001. Definitive two volume set collecting the White Nile and the Blue Nile, both lavishly illustrated stories of the decades of exploration and speculation regarding the origins of the Nile River. Beautifully written and illustrated, this is the set you'll need on everything Nile! Comes in pristine slipcase. Spines slightly faded from a sort of olive green to a brownish but otherwise immaculate.  $150 the set.  

15965. Lawrence, T.E.: REVOLT IN THE DESERT  Jonathan Cape, London, 1927. 8vo. 446pp.  Fold out map at rear. More accessible abridged version of Seven Pillars of Wisdom, detailing author's clandestine trip to Mecca. Wear to extremities. Corners bumped. Small piece chipped from front board. Bookplate to front pastedown, creating 'ghost' in browned ffep.   VG+.  $100.

16144. Williams, Tennessee: A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE New Directions, New York 1947. Stated third printing. Original cast listed including Brando, Hunter, Malden, and Tandy in the starring roles.  Wear to extremities. Fraying to spine ends. Slight staining to front board.
