Shaw, George Bernard TYPED LETTER, SIGNED Ephemera The original folds in the letter are visible, but the letter is however clean and in quite good condition. Accompanying it is a reproduction of a contemporary photograph of Shaw. Both items are matted in blue board to match the light blue type, and the ensemble has been framed ; Typed in blue ink on Shaw's 10 Adelphi Terrace, W. C. Stationery. Dated 4 November 1913: "Dear Mr. Carson, I have fired my shot on the subject of Divorce in the preface to Getting Married; and I have nothing new to say on the subject. If I were to re-open it, or to entertain the applications which are consistently reaching me for prefaces to books on subjects on which I have written, life would become impossible for me. I wish every success to your book, and shall be glad to read it when it appears; but I cannot take any part in its production. I may add that though a preface by me would perhaps facilitate the acceptance of the book by a publisher, it might also have the effect of distracting the attention of the press away from the author so completely that it would lose all the authority and reputation which he might have gained on his own unaided merit. Yours faithfully G. Bernard Shaw" Price: 2500.00 USD
